Pink highlights with brown hair?
I want to get hot pink highlights in my hair, which is medium brown. i dont want to bleach the streaks though, so is it possible to just do the pink and stil have it show up(though i know not as well) without bleaching it? *im going to a salon to get it done but i'd like to know before i get it done*Pink highlights with brown hair?

that would be sooo adorable in my opinion. but umm.. no you can't or else the color would turn up more as a dark red or purple possibly. To actually get the color pink you would have to bleach the highlights then put red in them. so that's how THAT works

well i tried to dye the bottom half of my hair pink, and i have brown hair as well...
well it didnt turn out too well.
the pink lasted about one washa and then my hair turned into this pale plum color and it looked horrible. I had to redye my hair brown to cover it up.
Even when u bleach your ahir it doesnt last for that long... (2 weeks)

Well I just got this done a few weeks ago! I also am a teenage with light brown hair and I wanted something cool but not INSANE and all over my head. So.. i decided to go with purple. I bought the brand of hair dye called Manic Panic in the shade ';Ultraviolet'; and then headed to the salon unsure of what exactly i should get. With the help of stylists i chose to get small pieces of my layers (mainly the tips) dyed just to highlight certain sections. The ultraviolet really popped and looked great! And since i just got the tips done in random piecey sections of my hair it wasn't overwhelming at all! Everyone loved it. I highly recommend it.
Just make sure you get it done at a salon. Don't try and do it yourself!!! They will bleach out the sections of your hair you want to die so that the color stays in and really shows.
HAVE FUN! PURPLE HAIR RULES.
If you don't want it to be overwhelming, I would go with pink, because if you do it right it can look like a closer to natural reddish color... purple on light brown hair will scream.
Pink would be very pretty, especially like a baby pink.
Hot pink would be good if you really want to stand out and baby pink to be more subtle.

The only way to get the desired look is by going to a Paul Mitchell salon, they will highlight your hair and dye it purple/pink with Paul Iitchell Inkworks. Inkworks is the only product that I have found that actually works, is the color you think it will be, and resists fading for the longest....if you do it any other way, with any other product, your hair will look like crap...it will look like a week and a half faded kool-ade accident
I am not a fan of manic panic personally...That bleach is extremely harsh. it is meant to make your hair super super white, and the chemicals are more harsh than they need to be, so if you have fragile hair, don't use it. If you really have to do it yourself, go to the beauty supply store and get a bleach and color...don't buy anything at the drug store, drug store products do not compare to professional products.
I am telling you though, the only way, unless by fluke, that you will get the desired results is by going to a professional.
Almost every colored dye out there is pretty gentle, The biggest reason that I don't like manic panic is because they use henna for some of their reds...henna is quite possibly the worst thing that most people think is ok for your hair, because its natural...but if you ever want to bleach your hair again...or at least until its grown out...don't use henna products.What's The Safest Products I Could Use To Highlight My Hair Purple and Pink?
Manic panic flash lightening kits are going to be harsh, especially the strongest stuff which may burn you, but it will be effective.
I have brown hair and use 'tints of nature lightener' its ammonia free. If you are bothered about damage from bleaching, ammonia free lightening products are the best option.
Manic panic is quite good, but a little messy (i've got a nice blue stain on my bathroom floor) and not long lasting. In my experience special effects dyes are definately the best and like manic panic they are vegetable based. Generally speaking pink dyes are a little longer lasting.
Use Kool-Aid. It's very easy and efficient.
Materials:
Bleaching Kit (use one specifically for bleaching, not blonding)
Wire whisk
Deep Conditioner (or real mayonnaise)
4-5 packets of pink %26amp; purple colored UNSWEETENED kool-aid
(we always used about 20 packets to make sure we had plenty, it's cheap enough that that is what I recommend)
two Med. bowls
Directions:
First, bleach the parts of your hair you want dyed. Mix the ingredients according to the directions in the bleaching box and apply to hair in a well-ventilated room. The only way to get the desired look is by going to a Paul Mitchell salon, they will highlight your hair and dye it purple/pink with Paul Iitchell Inkworks. Inkworks is the only product that I have found that actually works, is the color you think it will be, and resists fading for the longest....if you do it any other way, with any other product, your hair will look like crap...it will look like a week and a half faded kool-ade accident
I am not a fan of manic panic personally...That bleach is extremely harsh. it is meant to make your hair super super white, and the chemicals are more harsh than they need to be, so if you have fragile hair, don't use it. If you really have to do it yourself, go to the beauty supply store and get a bleach and color...don't buy anything at the drug store, drug store products do not compare to professional products.
I am telling you though, the only way, unless by fluke, that you will get the desired results is by going to a professional.
Almost every colored dye out there is pretty gentle, The biggest reason that I don't like manic panic is because they use henna for some of their reds...henna is quite possibly the worst thing that most people think is ok for your hair, because its natural...but if you ever want to bleach your hair again...or at least until its grown out...don't use henna products.What's The Safest Products I Could Use To Highlight My Hair Purple and Pink?
Manic panic flash lightening kits are going to be harsh, especially the strongest stuff which may burn you, but it will be effective.
I have brown hair and use 'tints of nature lightener' its ammonia free. If you are bothered about damage from bleaching, ammonia free lightening products are the best option.
Manic panic is quite good, but a little messy (i've got a nice blue stain on my bathroom floor) and not long lasting. In my experience special effects dyes are definately the best and like manic panic they are vegetable based. Generally speaking pink dyes are a little longer lasting.
Use Kool-Aid. It's very easy and efficient.
Materials:
Bleaching Kit (use one specifically for bleaching, not blonding)
Wire whisk
Deep Conditioner (or real mayonnaise)
4-5 packets of pink %26amp; purple colored UNSWEETENED kool-aid
(we always used about 20 packets to make sure we had plenty, it's cheap enough that that is what I recommend)

The colour has to deposit into the strand and will not show much IF it is not over a light colour. Best O' luck to you....Make certain your stylist does a few nice bold strands on your fringe in the front to show off your new Pinky locks! So i showed up at the party with green hair and an ALL blue costume. pink works with black cuz it's harder to see screw ups on darker hair.

I once saw the most beautiful hair on a fair woman, she had it died jet black and had one long chunk a soft violet color. It was over 15 years ago and I never forgot how beautiful her hair was!

First of all, it depends how long your hair is. If your hair is a little below your shoulders, you might want to go with just dying the tips. If your hair is really really long, I guess you could do either.
Second, it also depends if you want it to be more bold looking. I think highlights would be bolder than dying your tips.

I wouldn't recommend this combination. You say you have dark brown hair but you want light pink highlights. You are going to have to bleach the heck out of those highlights first in order to get them light enough to accept the light pink colour. This is going to be very drying on your hair.
On a fashion note- bold highlights are very ';over'; these days. Instead of pink try a warm caramel colour. It will be flattering to your colouring and look great in your hair.
If you *must* have those pink highlights make sure you go to a professional to get them done. Its more of a redish-purpleish, she ended up needing to go to a expensive salon, and stripping and re-dying her hair because it wouldnt dye without stripping!! so i wouldnt recomend it!!!1

Toners don't change the color of your natural hair, only the parts that were lightened and toners come in just about every shade under the sun.

as long as you dont work where there is a dress code or have other restrictions on your hair, i say WHY NOT?!

remember, you only live once, and hair isnt permanent (hats are good too if you dont like it. lol)
if you are worried about peers... i wouldnt worry about it. do it for you, not for them. my social group was conservative, and i went blue anyway. they teased me, but after a while the blue was just a part of who i was and i was always still accepted into their group.

Honey what scene people have is called choppy layers and you can't get them without going and inch shorter.
and if you want your fringe on the side your going to have to cut it more to the side so it grows out that way.

well sharpies wont last forever... but i also don't know how soon it will wash out. plus sharpies will damage your hair.... so maybe it wont be such a good idea.
if it is just for the day why don't you go to a costume store or party store and pick up the color spray for your hair. it'll wash out and look cool.
