Highlights and streaks (and frosting, and icing, and....) are all the same thing. Just the amount is different. They also use different names to sell it more. You want highlights, but not frosting -- see? same thing, different name.





To get any colour of anything, you have to colour some of the hair. If you have black hair, anything you put on it will not show. Your own hair is too dark. So you will need to remove all or some of your dark colour pigments, and then any colour you put on will be able to show better.





To remove the colour, you need to use a bleach. There are different kinds -- some only lift a few levels, some can remove all to almost a white colour. Yes, some can be very damaging, but that's a small price to pay to get the colour you want, right?





Nothing will show on your dark hair until you remove enough of your own colour.
