To get the correct color of pink then you will want to bleach it first with a frosting kit in the areas you want pink. Then buy some pink and put it over it while testing every 5 minutes for the desired shade. yes with dark hair you will need to bleach first , or the color will not show up very bright, it will be dull and not look very good

I suggest going to a salon for this. You can severely damage your hair if you don't know what you're doing. But if you're firm on doing it yourself, yes I would say to lighten the parts you do want pink first. I got a fire engine red put into my hair not too long ago and she didn't bleach it at all first, she just left it in there for a while.
You should go to the salon, honestly stylist's can only do highlights properly. If you've dyed your hair before and still have color in your hair you will have to bleach those parts. If this is the first time you've dyed your hair, their is no need to bleach.
go get a chucking cap and a bleach kit bleach the crap out of the spots the lighter the hair the better the pink and then color them pink anytime there's bleaching involved though I see a professional but if you're feeling ambitious go for it sally beauty supply will have everything you need and dont be afraid to ask the girls there for help

ya you should go buy some hair dye and read the label on the back and i dont think you have to bleach your hair it will look good.
