Is there anything I should be aware of? And can highlights even last for only a week?

Ozzy did it and it looked cool...I think you'll have to bleach the tips to have the pink dye soak into the pores of your hair, so it'll be permanent, unless you dye them black again. Go to Sally's or another beauty supply store, they sell the bleach and punk fuchsia/ pink colored dyes. It's really easy to do. Just mix the bleach and apply it to the ends of your hair...let it do it's thing and rinse and dry your hair. Apply the dye and let it set, rinse and you're finished. About an hour total time.
that would be totally not cool. very ';gay'; in fact and for your own reputation dont do it. And no they last forever. until they grow out and you cut them off. DONT DO IT!

You can try it,but most people think of ';Gay'; when they see pink highlights on a boy.
